How did patient hear about Bethany Center for Rehabilitation and Healing? Case worker at Southern Hills hospital
Details of Experience:
In 2008, Mike experienced a stroke which left him with left side weakness. After a nine-day stay at Southern Hills Hospital for hypercalcemia, the case management team recommended Bethany Center for intensive rehabilitation. He was admitted to Bethany on May 7, 2020. Upon arrival, he was greeted by our Admissions Nurse and the Director of Concierge Services to ensure he was comfortable in his surroundings.
He stated his goal was to “get back to where I was several years ago, get my strength back up and be independent again.” Upon assessment, the rehabilitation team determined the priority for Mike would be gait balance, lower body strengthening, and increasing left upper body strength. As such, the team’s short term goals for Mike included standing with a walker and cane, transferring from bed to wheelchair, transferring during toileting, ambulating up and downstairs, all with minimal assistance. During the following 22 days, Mike was able to reach all his short term goals, including ambulating with a walker and cane over 100 feet and up and downstairs. He stated, “I feel like I have regained all my strength plus some!”
Prior to discharge, the Director of Concierge Services met with Mike to evaluate his stay at Bethany Center. He shared he was satisfied with all the services he received and was especially grateful for the rehabilitation and nursing teams. The team at Bethany Center wishes Mike all the best and was honored to have been a part of his journey to recovery.
