Details of Experience:
Brenda Ausby was diagnosed with OA (Osteoarthritis) after struggling for quite some time with left knee joint pain, which progressively caused worsening symptoms of cartilage wear and tear to include discomfort. Brenda underwent surgery for a total knee replacement on June 27th at the Rutherford County Hospital. She later transitioned to Bethany Center for Rehabilitation and Healing for continued therapy and clinical oversight. Upon her arrival, behold, when the team met Mrs. Ausby she was already taking an estimated 95 steps post-surgery and had made tremendous success thus far. This was just the beginning of the great foundation and work that our therapy team would later announce victory over.

During Mrs. Ausby’s arrival, she was greeted, assessed, and made comfortable by the Care Transition Coordinator, the clinical team to include the Physician, Therapists, Administrative staff, and Concierge. Goals were quickly discussed and determined which specified targeting independent walking, bearing weight onto her left leg and returning home with full independence. With this goal at hand, Mrs. Ausby worked tirelessly alongside therapy and focused on the lower extremity and functional mobility exercises to help improve heel stride and step balance. With these weekly exercises, Mrs. Ausby aced these exercises and quickly transitioned from using a rolling walker to a single cane in only a matter of a few weeks! Therapy continuously worked with her on bed mobility, fall prevention, and safety.

After successfully completing her therapy, The Bethany Team was proud to announce the discharge home graduation of Mrs. Ausby on July 20th. This discharge was announced as she successfully conquered and demonstrated completing 180 steps independently with no assistance or devices! To add to her bragging rights, she increased her lower body strength drastically with a record-breaking time of being under extensive care to unsupervised oversight in just 2 days, independently transferred herself, increased her lower body strength, and met every goal targeted – such a success! Mrs. Ausby advised that she was satisfied with the care and support provided to her by the Bethany team. She has since then been discharged home with Home Health Care Services as an additional level of continued support. Bethany wishes Mrs. Ausby continued success and healing!
